Powerpoint slow

M

Mike Busch

At work we use a Citrex environment Thin Clients (this means it receives all
applications over the network). When running a PowerPoint template that was
designed by the user it takes literly seconds to load a slide, yet when I use
a form design template it runs much faster. Can any one shead light as to why
this is so slow with one createdfrom blank and one for the design template.
thans in advance.

PowerPoint does a lot of touchy-feely stuff with it's source and program
files. When these files are on the local HDD there is not usually a
problem. When they are on a network drive, the volume of stuff can overload
the network capacity.

It is ALWAYS recommended to run & design PowerPoint presentations from the
local HDD (even if the presentations are stored on a common network drive).
IIRC with Citrex, the program is on the network, the files on another, and
here you are with 'just' a 100MPS Ethernet line.
