PowerPoint suddenly stopped working. Re-installing didn't help?

Is PowerPoint "part" of MS Office? If so, should I re-install Office (which
I think includes PP). I have tried re-installing PP by downloading (free)
and re-installing, but with no result.

I would be most grateful if anyone could help, or perhaps steer me to an
appropriate link.

Thanks .... Mack1946.

Something had to happen for PPT to "suddenly" stop working.

However, PPT is not free, so you probably downloaded and installed the free
PPT Viewer. If all you need to do is view PPT files, then that's fine, but
to edit or create them, you need PPT itself.

Some versions of Office include PPT, others don't. So whether you have PPT
depends on what version of Office you have. If it's Office XP Small Business
Edition, PPT didn't come with that version.

So we need some information from you before we can help you.

Hi Echo S,

Thanks for your very speedy response. I think what may have caused my
problem was when I tried to "save" a (copyrighted amazing shot of a 747
"passing" in front of a greatly enlarged moon - from our perspective). Being
a private pilot, I found the shot amazing and intended to use it as my
wallpaper).

Thanks so much for your advice and help, and as my wife, who has just been
retrenched) uses MS Office, and will continue to do so for a while from home,
I'll probably purchase the full Office package.

Thanks again and kind regards,

Mack.

So I gather it's the PPT Viewer that no longer works? And it still doesn't
work if you download and reinstall it?

You can get the 2003 Viewer here, in case that's not what you did earlier.

If it's already installed, but it won't run on your system, try searching
for pptview.exe -- double-click that. Does the Viewer open?
