Powerpoint XP goes to 100% when modifying a document

A ppt doc as been created using Powerpoint 2000
professional, and can be modified without problem with
this version.
If I try to modify them using Powerpoint XP, it slow down
the PC and the Powerpoint process goes up to 100%
This occurs on documents over 16Mo, but works ok with a
4Mo doc.

Sounds as if there's something in that file which PPT doesn't like. Does
this happen with *all* files over 16MB, or just specific ones?
