Please help.... I have a power point presentation made, someone else wants to
use it and change some of the wording in the slides. We want to make sure
that the first slide cannot be changed in any way so our business name is
always on that first slide. Can you protect or freeze one slide?

Not totally, but you might try putting your logo in an image and then using
Insert|Picture|From File and using it as the slide background.

Or Format | Background | Fill Effects | Picture to get it into the slide
background.

Or alternative (easier, but not fool-proof):
Select the business name or all the contents on the first slide and click
Edit > Cut.
Click View > Master > Slide Master.
Click Insert > New Title Master. You do not need to create it if you already
have one.
Paste the contents on the title master and close master view.
On the first slide which is now empty, go to Format > Slide Design. Then
apply the title master onto the first slide.
