Powerpoint2002 kills sound of powerpoint2000

Hi everybody,

I've got two animated objects in a slide. In the presentation mode, the
first klick activates the first object and an accompanying sound. After the
second klick, the next object appears and the sound continues, but only in
Powerpoint2000/Windows2000, not so in Powerpoint2002/WindowsXP! This version
will stop the sound abruptly when the second object appears, even though the
option "stop previous sound" is deactivated!

What the heck is going on?
