PowerPoints Opening in slideshow mode.

Have user that is using office 2000, Windows XP, and IE
6.01. When clicking on a link to a .ppt it launches the
PowerPoint as a slideshow. What can be done to have the
option to open it in the browser or be able to save it to
disk?

Two points.

First, it is possible that IE is configured to open files w/o asking
(rather than as I configure the system, which is 'always ask before
downloading a file or a control'). So, you might want to check the
various IE options

Second, if you just want to resolve this problem (and not address the
potential security nightmare if the above is true), use right-click on
the link and select the 'Save target as ..." menu item. This will let
you download the ppt file and save it to a disk.
