PPT 2007 Charts

I'm planning to upgrade to PPT 2007. Will I be required to update to the
latest version of Excel since charts are now created directly from Excel? Or
is it just better to upgrade to new office suite? Are there any known major
issues to expect when upgrading to the new PPT?

Thnak you!

You can use PPT 2007 standalone without Excel. I don't know off the top
of my head whether it uses Excel 2003 if it's installed or MS Data (or
whatever it is called) that is uses standalone.
