Ppt 97 fonts change when "Send To" is used

I'm trying to send slides to Word 97 using Send To. However, the
received slides use Times New Roman for their bullet points, and a
different size, rather than the original Arial. Also, the images are
messed up.

Is there an easy fix for this, or will I be forced to invest in a later
version of Office or something?

Thanks.

I don't know of a sure-fire fix for this, but I have had it happen, so
you're definitely not dreaming!

One thing that seems to help is to choose Paste Link in the Send to|Word
dialog box, and then once in Word, CTRL+A to select all and Edit|Links|Break
Links.

Thanks, I've already tried this, Echo. Unfortunately, since I
"upgraded" to XP Home I've had nothing but problems. And I'm not a
neophyte, either, having been using these machines since 1981!

I'm thinking of switching over to Acrobat now, to see if they'll output
the files as a pdf.

Bummer. I was hoping that would take care of it for you.

PPT 97 and 2000 send WMFs to Word, whereas PPT 2002 and 2003 send EMFs. I
believe I have had fewer problems with the fonts changing in 2002 and 2003,
but the problem is not totally gone. I believe that resources also tend to
have something to do with it, but I may be dreaming with that.

It only happened a couple of times out of 7 since. Besides, I realized
that the converted files were causing the gray boxes of doom on my
Framemaker files.

Now, if I use jpg files as illustrations, I don't have the dreaded gray
box appear in place of graphics. And I just realized I can save the PPT
presentation as wmf graphics, then batch convert those over to jpg with
Paintshop Pro--although a few of them don't come out because of a "lack
of memory" or something--although I have 584M of RAM.

I also realized that the reason I kept getting "out of memory" errors
is that Word and PPT were putting huge temp files in the Documents and
Settings folder on the C drive. I think next time I'll just save the
wmf files, and convert them. Then I'll plug the appropriate graphics
into a vanilla Word doc; using the Send To command in Powerpoint
generates enormous files, like 600M and up.
