PPT does not work when attached to projector

My client prepares a Powerpoint presentation on his Dell
laptop (16 mgs of video ram) but when he plugs it into a
projector for his presentation, the projector screen is
blank. The laptop is all he has to complete his
presentation.

Any suggestions? He has windows XP home and Plus! pack
installed.

Has he set up his video card for dual monitors and set the second monitor to
the extended desktop? Has he set up his presentation to display on the
secondary monitor?
