Pragmatec-Like Library Tool

A contact of mine is searching for the most efficient and user-friendly
system to catalog and retrieve PowerPoint presentations (or individual
slides). Right now, she is focusing on Pragmatec, which she uses in
combination with RFP Machine(?).

I know nothing about this arena of PPT and want to make sure that my contact
is moving in the right direction. So,

1.Do you know anything about Pragmatec (another client of mine uses it - it
looks cumbersome to me)?
2. Is a third party software the way to go - or can we leverage innate PPT
capabilities? Or should we be using add-ins?
3. Am I asking the right questions?
