I'm new to this list. I couldn't find anything directly responsive to this
question in the KB, but if I missed something (like a FAQ

Q: Periodically, when marking an email item as unread, it displays in
Auto-Preview mode, even though A-P mode isn't turned on. Once it happens,
closing and restarting Outlook appears to be the only way to turn that view
off. Happens in O2k and OXP, various service packs. Is there any way to
prevent this behavior; i.e., to prevent Auto-Preview from happening
spontaneously?
