Printing email

I'm a new user of Entourage, and a new user of Macs. When I print email
messages in Entourage, the type seems much larger than I'm used to in
Windoze and, frankly, much larger than I'd like. Is there any way to reduce
the type size when printing Entourage email messages?

Entourage uses two different font settings when you print an e-mail message.
There's the header section, which contains some metadata, such as the date
when the e-mail was sent, the sender and recipient's e-mail addresses and so
on. Then there's the body, the actually message. You can quite easily
specify what font you want to use for the message body: in
Entourage>Preferences, General Preferences, Font, there's a dropdown list
next to "Printed items", where you can choose a font that you think is
appropriate. The header section uses a different font setting, as I've
already said, namely the font family and size specified in that same section
of the preferences under "HTML messages (proportional)". In other words, you
can change the appearance of the header on the printout, but doing so will
also influence how Entourage displays HTML messages onscreen. You can either
switch to a different font family/size every time you want to print a
message, or leave the HTML setting the way it is, which means using a larger
font for printouts as well.

Thanks for the info...'Tis strange, though. The fonts in the
Preferences/General/Fonts area are all 10 or 12 (pts I assume). Small on
screen, but come out more link 16pts on paper. I'll play with those settings
and see if I can come up with something better for me.

I'm no sure what you mean by "more like 16 pts on paper". The size on screen
is also related to the resolution settings of your monitor. There is
actually no such thing as an "absolute" size 12. Yes, the printed size will
be different for the same font at the same pts.

That's the whole reason why there is a separate setting for "Printed items".
If you have Plain Text setting as 12 pts, Printed Items 2 10 pts will
approximate the same size for the same font. A different font will be a
different size. Go down to 9 pts or lower if you need to. It won't affect
the screen font size.
