Printing problems in Project 2000 with HP Designjet 450 C and othe

Dear Microsoft.

I am rather frustrated, as I can't print large scale timeplans i Project
2000 with HP Designjet 450 C.
I have searched on the net and found a link that describes the problem - but
without a solution ! ! !
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;331974.

It amazes me that a company like Microsoft still hang on to bachwards
compatibility with Win 95. We don't use stoneaxes anymore either.
I understand if Microsoft wants to keep a decent service level to 95 users,
but they shouldn't forget XP users and other newer OS.
It must be possible to write a driver that works with HP Designjet hardware.
I could imagine that HP is not the only company facing problems with their
large scale plotters and printers.

Until the problem is solved, if ever, I sure would like to know how do I get
my Gantchart printed out in a large scale i.e. 600 x 2000 mm, if anybody
knows!

Hi,

Well Microsoft don't provide full compatibility forever. They tend to get
pilloried if they don't provide enough and now if they provide too much. If
you read the article from your link, note that it doesn't say that Project
2003 is affected, so try getting an eval copy of Project 2003: it may be
your solution.

Don't forget, you are the one running old software: when Project 2000 was
being designed, Windows 95 wasn't that old!!:)

Hi Rod Gill.

Point taken and thanks for the advice. I most certaily will do that.
Strangely enough it never occured to me that maybe it already was fixed in
newer versions.

Thanks again and happy Easter.

Sorry to report that I just installed MS Project 2003 hoping to cure this
problem but get the same behavior. It's a shame the graphics plotting output
is so limited. It's difficult to communicate a large project on just 54" wide
paper! Scissors and glue I guess...
