Private security key

Hi

I have a private security key with an extension EPF that I use with a PC to
connect to an exchange server.

Is this key compatible for a connction to this server if I use Entourage on
a Mac computer.

Thank you

Not that I am aware of. I believe the Exchange Password File (EPF) is an
older-style security implementation that was used in Outlook '97 before
Outlook supported S/MIME natively. Outlook 2000 and later use S/MIME, and so
digital identities (.pfx files with a private key and a certificate or
certificate chain) can be used with both Outlook 2000+ and Entourage 2004.
Unfortunately, the way the EPF system works, I don't believe it is
exportable as a regular digital identity. I tried many moons ago and didn't
get very far.

Some more information is available here
<http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011402811033.aspx> for the
Outlook 2003 side of things. I know the "external certification authorities"
works for both sides, though I am not sure about the Microsoft Exchange KMS.
If the KMS doesn't produce exportable identities, then it won't be sharable
with Entourage since Entourage doesn't have any code to deal with the
Exchange KMS.

Another way to generate PKI within an organization w/o using the Exchange
KMS is to use Microsoft Certificate Server (MCS) and the Web Enrollment
Support. That way both Outlook and Entourage can use the same digital
identities.
