Problem deleting IMAP messages

My IMAP (.mac) mail moves into ³Deleted Items² folder just fine, but will
not really delete. I have tried to delete using icon and menu delete items.
POP mail deletes just fine. Solution?

Have you used "Empty 'Deleted Items'"? This appears on the menu when you
control-click (or right-click) on the Deleted Items folder.
