Problem entering a birthday date

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: pop

I use the Swiss French version of Entourage.
In the personnal data of a contact, if I enter the date: mai 10th, 1940, Entourage changes the date to mai 10th, 1939 and doesn't calculate the age of the contact.
This problem also happens on MacOS 10.5 and on an Intel Mac.
What is wrong, is there something I must do?
