Problem installing Office 2003 using Group Policy - does not remove previous Office XP installation

Ok, I’m about to pull my hair out

I’m installing Office 2003 by publishing it to my users with a group policy - which works except it does not remove the previous version of office

Here is what I have done

1. Created an administrative instal
2. Created a transform file (MST file
3. Published the package in AD with the transformatio

For my first try I left the option in the MST to default which SHOULD remove previous versions - it still left the previous office install (Office XP

For my second attempt I specifically chose to remove the previous office version - again it left the previous version

I even tried just publishing it without an MST file and it still never gave me the option to remove the previous version

The only time I was able to remove the previous version was if I logged in as a user with admin privileges and ran SETUPPRO.EX

The strange thing is that all of the other settings that I had in the MST file such as: do not install Outlook, remove shortcuts and customizing Office settings took on all of the Publishings - it just would never remove the previous version
