Problem navigating slides with wheel mouse in Normal view

When in the Normal view in ppt. (with the slide thumbnails displayed along
the edge), the wheel on my mouse skips to display every 3rd slide, vs. every
slide (e.g. skips from slide 1, slide 4, slide 7). I have searched all
option settings in ppt, modified all the settings on my mouse properties and
even reinstalled the mouse driver (USB) and nothing helps. The wheel works
as expected in WORD, it appears only to be a problem in ppt. Suggestions???

Hi,

Make sure you click in the main slide window before you start scrolling to
make that the active window. Otherwise your scrolling the thumbnail window
instead of the slide window.

It must be your mouse/driver because here whether using a wireless Logitech
mouse or a Wacom intuos mouse or my intuos graphics pad in PowerPoint 2000 and
2003 the slides advance 1 at a time, even if I have the Control Panel > Mouse
setting to 1 or 100 lines at a time or 1 screen at a time.
