Problem receiving mail using Entourage

I am using Entourage 10.0 for a couple of different email accounts. i
recently created a new account using a yahoo email address. I set up
the account info using mail.yahoo.com as the receiving mail server, and
my mail.optonline.net as thesending one.
i am able to send mail from entourage, but not receive it. when i go
directly to the yahoo webmail, i see that i am receiving mail normally.
i have not had this problem with other accounts using the same exact
setup.
Please help.

How do you know you can't receive it? Do you get an error message, and
if so, what? Or do you mean merely that Entourage is failing to check
the mail for this account? (If the latter, it's probably just because
you are not asking it to do so.) m.

When i click on "send and receive," i see the little messge at the
bottom of the page that says "Receiving messages". Then after about two
minutes i get an error message that says "Error: could nt retrieve
email from account.... EXPLANATION: A connection error has occurred."
I am able to send messages but not receive.

As someone else said, that sounds like you've entered the POP server
info incorrectly. m.

I tried entering pop.mail.yahoo.com as the receiving and sending pop
server, and also using "mail.optonline.net" as the sending pop server.
In both cases i get an immediate error message that says "a connection
failure has occured." Does this mean that yahoo does not allow this
function with Entourage?

According to the Yahoo website, you have to subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus to
be able to access your e-mail from a web-based client such as Entourage or
Outlook as opposed to via a browser. Once you have subscribed, you can then
get info regarding the POP and SMTP servers.

That depends on what country you are in - here in the UK (and many other
European countries) you can still use POP mail with a free Yahoo account.
