Problem trying to set up Comcast account

I can't find answer to my problem in the Entourage FAQ.

G5, OSX 2.6, Entourage 10.1.0 (2006)

I have several hotmail accounts set up and use them with no problems. I
have a Comcast account which I can access through the Internet - no
problem. In entourage, I go to Tools and set up a new account (Comcast
tech support verified my info). Tools shows this as an account. The
problem is that this new account does not show up in the list of
available accounts that is listed on the left side of the window. Any
ideas? Thanks.

I use Comcast with no problems.

When you set up the account did you select a POP account?

Left side of what window?

Yes. In the Tools menu, I see: my account name (POP)
When I select it and Edit, an Edit Account window opens, with the
following info:

Account name: my account name

Personal information
Name my name
E-mail address my account name followed by '@comcast.net'

Receiving mail
Account ID my account name
POP server mail.comcast.net

Sending mail
SMTP server: smtp.comcast.net

At the top left of the Mail window are 2 rows of 3 icons:
Mail Address Calendar
Book

Notes Tasks Custom
Views


Below that is a left arrow followed by 'Hide Folders'

Below that is a window (box) containing the following folders:
'On My Computer'
all my existing accounts I access with no problems
'Microsoft News Server' which is not a folder
'Mail Views"

My Comcast account is not there.

In Entourage you can select to view "online". This is sort of a poor mans
IMAP account. The icon is for viewing accounts online (see below on how to
setup). Most users just download to their computer and view mail under the
"on my computer" folders. This way mail is downloaded to your computer. You
can use the MLM and rules to sort your mail making it easier to manage your
mail.

Let me know if this does not answer your question.

Go to Tools/Accounts/that account/Edit/Options. Check "Allow online access".
That puts an icon of your account in the Folder List.

Click on the account
icon. You're now looking at the messages on the server.
