Problem with embedded charts converting to pictures

Can anyone tell me how to save a 2002 ppt presentation so that when it is
opened in the 2003 version it does not convert the embesdded charts to
pictures? I have already disabled the new features on the 2003 version, but
this didn't help.

Where are the charts embedded from? What steps did you use to insert/embed
them?
