Problem with entourage/exchange

Hi,

I have a couple of problems with entourage and I was wondering if anyone can
help....

1. In Entourage the sbs is updating so frequently that as I type there is a
lag before the type comes up on the screen. This makes sending an email very
slow and frustrating. Can anyone offer any ideas on this (to troubleshoot
etc)?

2. Is there a way to increase the size of the left margin when printing an
email? At the moment it is too close to the side of the page - which causes
problems when the emails are filed away.

If you can help with either of these I will be v. grateful,

-TIA,

-H

the lag (spinning beachball) delay is wide spread. i had several of my
clients open support tickets with microsoft to force the issue. in each
case microsoft troubleshooted (the usual stuff...disable
spotlight...exclude your microsoft user data folder from antivirus
scanning...etc.). in each case microsoft told my clients to reduce the
amount of mail in the in/sent/junk/calendar mailboxes. in each case the
problem only marginally got better. in each case microsoft claimed to
have "fixed" the problem. and in each case my clients insisted the
problem wasn't fixed (outlook users don't have this problem -
microsoft's "solution" amounts to a tedious workaround...not a viable
solution).

in each case client asked for a refund due to the issue NOT being
resolved...microsoft issued refunds for each ticket. i have a paper
trail for each ticket. i plan to broadcast this through macfixit,
macintouch, apple message board, etc.

we're not sure (neither is microsoft) WHICH patch caused entourage to
begin syncing the in/sent/junk/calendar boxes on it's own...despite
lack of schedule to do so. it can happen every minute or every 10
minutes, etc. when it happens, you get the SBOD (spinning beachball of
death). if you wait, the spinning beachball USUALLY goes away.

consider the fact that the entourage database 2g size cap was lifted
when office 2004 was released. now consider that even in a
1000-fullduplex network, a 2g+ database will take a considerable amount
of time to sync. hold that thought. now consider what can happen when
that same 2g+ database begins to automatically sync when you're
connected via broadband (or worse - via dialup).

who's managing entourage development over at microsoft? who manages
that manager? microsoft is costing the mac business community an untold
amount of money with this WIDELY REPORTED ISSUE. we're talking a LOT of
wasted productivity...TIME IS MONEY.

where is microsoft's press release acknowledging the issue?

i have my clients exploring alternatives to entourage. apple mail works
with exchange. it's not as "feature rich" or "integrated" with
exchange...but my clients can get thier work done. this blatant
disregard for AN ISSUE THAT MICROSOFT CREATED and the disruption it has
caused in the business community is unacceptable. this issue has many
of us exploring opensource alternatives to microsoft
applications/suites. microsoft shot itself in the foot...whoever is
responsible for overseeing macintosh development at microsoft should be
fired.a copy of this letter is being sent to:

macfixit
macintouch
apple forums
various other macintosh news sites and forums

Go to File > Page Setup. In the pop-up menu next to "Paper Size", click
"Manage Custom Sizes". Click the "+" button to add a new paper size. It
should automatically make the size 8.5" x 11", which is the standard US
Letter size. Double-click "Untitled" in the left pane so that you can add a
name for the new layout. Then, under "Printer Margins", choose "User
defined" in the pop-up menu, and set the margins you'd like below. When
you're done, click OK, and, in the Page Setup box, next to "Paper Size",
select the new size you just created. Then click OK.
