Problem with Entourage Signatures

A

Alan Schaevitz

Recently I have been getting an error message when I start a new e-mail or
replay to a received one. While I am typing the body text, an error message
comes up that states "Can't get default signature type of POP account id
12." I have rebuilt the database and have trashed the Signature file, all
to no avail. To continue typing my text, I have to click on the OK button on
the error message. However, it reappears a short time later and I have to
do it again. Any help is appreciated.

Also, I am curious if the following is a normal occurrence: When I rebuilt
the database I lost all my newsgroup subscriptions. I had to re-subscribe.

Thanks for any help on the above.

Try opening the account settings and resetting the default signature in the
options tab.

Thanks, Barry, but I tried that, too. No dice. I am now getting 2 error
messages back-to-back that I have to click the OK button to continue. The
second error message says that it cannot set the account for the open
e-mail. I am beginning to wonder if it might be the Other Account script I
am using. I will try to reset the Other Account Prefs and see if that
clears the problem.

Yes, it probably is that script - if you have recreated the sigs file all
the sig IDs will have been changed, prompting a message similar to the one
you report.
