Problem with language support

R

Richard L

Hi,

Until a minute ago, I had a button in the system tray with a blue
background and white letters "DE" to allow me to switch to a German software
keyboard instead of American English. I hadn't used this button since I
installed Microsoft Office 2003. When I clicked it today, it "disappeared."
Then I discovered a new toolbar at the top of the screen providing my old
DE/EN button plus a slew of others I don't want: Microphone, Dictation, and
Handwriting. There were others I managed to suppress.

How can I get back to my nice, old DE/EN button in the tray and get rid of
this undesired toolbar?

TIA,
Richard

You need to open the Language Bar and go to the settings option and turn off
the language bar and enable the system tray icon.

Hi Milly,

Thanks for your response. I opened the Language Bar's settings by clicking
Start | Settings | Control Panel | Text Services, which opened the Text
Services dialog. In that dialog, I clicked the Language Bar button and
unchecked "Show the Language bar on the desktop," which got rid of the
Language Bar.

However, I don't see any option to "enable the system tray icon." Of
course, there's still no EN btn is in my System Tray.

Any further suggestion as to where the "enable the system tray icon" option
can be found on my configuration: Windows 2000 SP4 + Microsoft Office 2003.

Regards,
Richard
