Problem with one particular email message

J

Jeff Balcerzak

On my bosses mac, he's got an email message in his in box that he
can't read. If he tries to open the message, his Entourage crashes -
if he tries to delete it, he gets a message that he doesn't have
enough memory. I've tried doing the simple and advanced rebuild, and
both times the entire db gets hosed to the point that Entourage says
the db can't get recovered - good thing I made a backup copy of all
the db files first. He's running OSX 10.2 and Entourage for Office
V.x. Personally, I don't like using Mac's because of file and memory
management issues (even with the new Unix kernel), but I can't yet
convice my boss to switch to Windows XP Professional, even though his
productivity gain would be astronomical since he wouldn't have to keep
trying to fix these Mickey Mouse problems with his Mac. If anyone has
any suggestions to get this thing working - short of throwing it off
the roof of our building, I would be grateful.

Thanks,

Jeff

You must be joking right? What do you think posting to a Mac forum will get
you if you post messages like this? Windows XP better memory than OSX?
Clearly you have not got a clue.....

Ignorance is bliss.........

Remove anything that may be in the temp incoming folder.

I have found that to work every time this happens

Where is the temp incoming folder (in Entourage X)?

The simplest way is just to turn off the Preview Pane (View menu, or
command-shift-O). Then you can select the message without crashing and
delete it. Then Tools/Run Schedule/Empty Deleted Items Folder.

If you leave messages on the server, or Entourage crashes as soon as you
click on the Inbox, you have to remove it from the server in a similar
manner, using Online Access. Write back if that's the case.
