Problem with receipts in Outlook XP Standard

I have the options set to never repeat never repeat never send
receipts. However, the other day I sent myself a "CC" copy when I
sent in my homework (I'm taking college classes via the WEB), and next
thing you know, after I opened the copy I got back, the next time I
checked my pop mail, read receipts were there from when I opened my
copy.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and what to do to fix it? ALL
REPEAT ALL service packs are installed (office and windows xp).

Are you sure the receipt isn't a delivery receipt versus a read receipt?
The Outlook receipt logic will not remove these types of receipts since they
are generated at the server, not at the client.

Yes I'm sure. The verbage is "Use this option to decide how to
respond to requests for read receipts. Only applies to Internet Mail
accounts." The receipts I got back was a read receipt. The
fustrating this about this is that the receipts are never seen in the
out/sent boxes, they are "hidden" when sent.

I think I figured how to get around it. Click on "ask", and then the
first time after that it gets a read request, it pops up the dialog
box, you tell it no, and to remember that.

After I did that I didn't see any more read receipts. I then clicked
the never, and they started coming back.

Another bug with MS.
