Problem with Rules in Entourage (half don't work anymore :( )

Hello,

Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue, I have 19 rules setup
to move specific emails when they come in into folders. Half of these
rules don't work, they used to work and a few months ago they stopped
working. I am not sure if anyone knows of a way to repair these.

I have tried repairing the database by running the utility and I have
also tried deleting the rules that aren't working and recreating them
and that also did not work. I hope someone knows a fix for this?

Thanks again!

Most likely it's user error not corruption. See the Rules Pages for help
creating rules. There are examples and tips there to help you.

I'm guessing that many of your 19 rules have to do with mail received from
lists. This is what the Mailing List Manager (MLM) is for. For any mailing
lists that you are on, the MLM is a better bet. It not only acts before the
JMF, but it also gives you better ways to control the 'reply to' actions,
being able to over-ride the lists preferred setting for 'reply to list' or
'reply to sender'.

To further reduce your custom rules, use categories rather than individual
addresses. For example, you want all your mail from your buddies to go into
your buddy folder. Just assign the category Buddies in the address book to
each address. If you add extra addresses in the future to this category, the
rule using category will automatically include the new address. It's a lot
easier than having to open the rule and add individual addresses.
