Problems importing archive folder.

I have a backed-up archive file (*.pst format) that I need to import again.
However when I go through the whole "file->import etc." process it comes up
with an error message stating that the file is "not an personal folders
file".
I'm using Outlook 2003 on a WinXP Pro system.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to solve this?

Do not import. Click File>Open>Outlook Data File.

The file is over 1 GB in size. Could that be causing the problem?

PSTs should work reliably until they're in excess of 1.5 GB. The
description of the problem leads me to believe you corrupted the PST in the
copy process. If SCANPST.EXE won't fix it or recognize it as a PST, Outlook
won't be able to use it either. If Outlook was opened when you made your
"backup" (the details of how you did that aren't evident), then chances are
your PST is trash.
