Problems installing PowerPoint Viewer 97

Hi,

I need to install PowerPoint viewer 97 onto my Windows 2000 Professional
computer. I've downloaded the executable file, the file extracts, I get the
extracting progress bar, however it doesn't actually get to the bit where it
asks where you want it installed it simply exits the setup without actually
installing? I've tried it on several other computers and it works just fine,
but this one is a bit of a problem.

Thanks for any assistance.

Unless you need to use the 97 viewer for a particular reason I would
recommend using the newer PPT 2003 viewer. In addition to handling a greater
number of animations and effects, it does not need to be installed (all
..dll's are accessed directly from the viewer folder). Get it here:

Actually the 97 Viewer doesn't require installing either. If you extract the
following files (using WinZip or WinRAR) and put them in a folder, you can
create a shortcut to PPVIEW32.EXE and it will run. It does not, however,
register the file types (.LST, .PPS or .PPT) so that would have to be done
manually.
