Hello,
I am having problems linking an MS Excel 97 worksheet to an Access 97
database (Yes, 97-- please don't laugh!).
If I have the spreadsheet open when I go through the "Link Table"
wizard, everything is fine. I answer the questions in the wizard and
get the following:
Field Name 1 Field Name 2 FieldName 3
Data1 Data2 Data3
Data1 Data2 Data3
Data1 Data2 Data3
Data1 Data2 Data3
However, if the worksheet is closed, I get the following:
Field Name 1 Data2 Data3
Data1 Data1 Data2
Data3 Data2 Data3
Data1 Data2 Data1
Data1 Data2 Data3
Basically-- some of the data values become field names and data values
from different columns show up in the spreadsheet. The data changes if
I make changes to the spreadsheet.
Has anyone seen this before? I have linked hundreds of excel
spreadsheets and have never seen this before. Are you always supposed
to have a worksheet open when you link-- I have not seen this as a
requirement. Could there be something specific to this spreadsheet
that is causing the problem? I have looked over it and see nothing out
of the ordinary (there are no macros/code on the spreadsheet).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Matt
