Problems replying to emails from a different Domain

R

Rollinwest

Hello all,

I have a couple of mac users who use Entourage. My problem I hope is
simple to fix. Users that receive emails from another domain are
unablet to reply or foward the emails. However this is not a problem
when replying or forwarding emails to the domain in which they belong
to.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Rollin

It sounds as though, for some reason, users within your domain do not have
access to a domain name server. A DNS is required to translate the
alphabetic names, like apple.com, into the IP address needed to communicate
over the net.

First, apologies for multiple posting; had strange problems with my account,
which I think are fixed.

I'm not sure how to resolve your problem. Normally, if users are connected
to the Internet via an ISP such as Comcast or Earthlink, the ISP provides a
DNS service. If your users are connected through a company network, there
ought to be some kind of DNS service available through your company network.
It may be that users need to enter the IP address of the server in their
network setup (see the Network Preference panel, under TCP/IP). You'll need
to ask your network people.
