Problems sending e-mails

Hi! first of all, please excuse my poor english....

I have problems sending e-mails since 1 week ago, from 10 e-mails i
send, only 4 are being recieved....
I've already checked all my account configuration, i've deleted and
reconfigurate it, but the problem is still there, and i have working
great with entourage about 8 months ago, so first i thought it was my
provider prodigy problem (isp?), but they told me that there was no
problem with my account or at their server.
I think i already have checked everything (i send to and from testing
mails from my account and from 5 test per day in a week, maybe 2 days
in a week i only recieve 2 mails, the other days zero from 5 sent)
Well, i hope you understand me and help me.... thanks

Are these test emails to yourself? If you could send some details on how you
are testing and what you are using as a subject maybe we can find the
problem.

Is it possible that you have a rule that is moving the mail?

The Junk Filter in Entourage 2004 is set up to consider much mail from
yourself as Junk, since spammers often pretend to send mail from the person
it's going to. Entourage won't mark all mail from yourself as junk, but a
lot of it will be. If this is typical "test" mail wit empty-headed nonsense
or generic subjects, it might be getting marked as junk.

Entourage 2004 also now automatically moves junk mail to the Junk E-mail
folder. So go look in that folder and see if any of these "lost" messages
have ended up there.

Interesting... I was having the same problem with the same provider. It
turns out Prodigy recently implemented port 25 filtering as part of
their anti-spam measures. You can now only send e-mail through their own
SMTP server.
It's actually a bit weurd, because some of my e-mails go through and
others take a few dayh before they go through... Their firewall seems a
bit leaky.
If you want to use an external SMTP you have to either use SSL (which
goes through another port, 5xx or something) or request that they don't
block port 25 for your account from their "abuse" page (there is a
category for that).

See KB article 842882. The problem is that Microsoft stopped supporting
an authentication method that millions of people still use, meaning
that many of us can never ever under any circumstances send email. They
have known about this since July of 2004, so they obviously have no
plans to fix it.

I think those of us who have to use our ISP's SMTP servers are going to
have to switch to another email client and write off the cost of
Entourage as a loss.

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble. The entourage development team has
limited resources. In implementing version 2004, they decided to use these
resources to support new and modern protocols. The real problem is with your
ISP. They should update their servers to support a more modern and secure
protocol. If they do not, I suppose your only alternatives are to use
another mail program, or change ISP.

Since the KB article was written in July of last year, it is obvious that
Microsoft knows about the issue. However, it is not clear whether or not
they consider it a priority for an update or newer version. You can better
express your desires by using the send feedback choice under Entourage's
help menu. The developers use this to assign development priorities.

Well in this specific case, I had the same problem through Mail and
Eudora... It really is port 25 filtering.

I had the same problem sending through postfix on my own machine (which
in this case doesn't require any authentication),

Bob,

The problem I have with this is as follows:

1. My ISP does use a more modern protocol, and I can SEND email to it's
SMTP server.

2. However, when I use common WIFI portals, like for example T-Mobile
(Starbucks) they map to the very simple protocols that Entourage
doesn't support.

What this means is that one cannot sent ANY email via Entourage from
ANY T-Mobile hotspot. No matter what your ISP's protocols are. I've
also seen the same problem with other WiFi hotspots ... for example in
SeaTac airport.

That sounds like a serious problem to me.

Thanks,
i'm sending test mails from my principal prodigy account to my
hotmail and .mac account, sometimes they are forwards of some messages
in my inbox, sometimes they are only 3 words for just prove.
I'm in mexico, my isp provider is prodigy.net.mx
My junk e-mail folder is empty.
I already checked with my isp provider (prodigy mexico) the smtp port
and they told me that they are ok.
So.... i still don't understand what is happening, just sending mails
with no "error" marked anywhere and no one receiving.....
And i dont want to go back with my pc!!!
