Problems with Shared workbooks in Excel 2002

Three users working with a shared workbook in Excel 2002. Contents/values in cells appear to be OK, but we are seeing the rows being (randomly) re-sorted in a section where only one user was working (and they didn't sort that section). Also, we use different colors for background shading as we work different rows ... and this shading seems to jump to other rows when one of us re-opens the workbook. (For example: yesterday row 1 was shaded yellow and row 2 was green; today, row 1 is unshaded, row 2 is now yellow and row 7 is green. The cell contents are correct, but the rows aren't shaded they same as the day before! And some of the rows are no longer in the same sort sequence as before.

Don't know if it relevant, but we also use data filtering extensively, changing our filtered views frequently over the course of each workbook session. We are not working in the same section (range of rows) at the same time, and are not sortin
rows over a broad range ... only a narrow/local range (maybe sorting 20 consecutive rows into a different sequence)

Anyone know what causes these problems? Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated
