Problems with Transitions

I'm working in PowerPoint XP. The show I'm doing calls for narration,
which I've placed in the show. Yesterday afternoon I placed
transitions between slides. Most of them are working fine, but there
are two or three that are changing later than what I set, and two that
are changing in mid-sentence. I've tried resetting the transition
times, but it seems to have no affect at all. Is there a way to fix
this?
