Product Key / Down Computer

I own Office:mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition. I have one copy
installed on a Powerbook that now has a bad logic board. It will work
however for about 10 min. before freezing. Is there a way to remove
that copy and keep the product code and install it on my new Powerbook.
I am trying to not waist one of the three Product Keys & legal Copys.
Thanks

I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect it doesn't matter. My
(educated) guess is that you would only have to worry about this if you
had two computers on the same network running Office with the same
product key. I don't think MS will be upset if you use the same product
key on a working computer that had been on a now-dead one.

It won't be wasted. If you just remove the copy, you can reinstall with the
same product key on a different computer (or on that computer fixed), no
problem.

It isn't like activation, where the serial number is tied to a computer.
MacOffice doesn't do that.

3 product keys means you can have 3 networked computers all each running a
copy without conflicts, it doesn't mean only 3 installs.
