product key screen freezes

I just got '03 office, and am trying to install on my laptop, which is
networked to my desktop cd drive (don't have a drive directly on the laptop).
I click setup, it copies some installation files, then gets to the product
key screen, and is basically frozen (not the computer, but the install app),
then shuts off the installer.

Any ideas?

no drive. Also, for my purposes, the only thing I'd ever do with it is
