Product key with special character

I just purchased a valid copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Standard Edition
Update. My product key contains an umlaut. For example, the first 5
characters are VT¨D9-R I have tried typing in the characters in word pad and
then copying in the code, etc. but it replies that the umlaut is not a valid
character. Can you tell me how to get around this and what I should do next?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Contact the vendor from where you purchased the software.

I have never seen a special character in the product key. You need to
contact the seller. I suspect it's a matter of a poor printing job.

They are usually groups of 5 characters separated by a dash if that is any
help.
I would try VTD9R-XXXXX-and so fourth.

I have never seen anything but numerals and letters in a product key. Afaik
an umlaut is only valid over vowels, ä, ë, ï, ö, ü, ÿ. I have to agree with
the lady who said poor printing job.

Thanks for all your posts. I bought this key this week from Amazon.com new.
It had the original seal. I had bought 6 copies of this software because I
am consulting and updating computers for a business. I had no problem with
installing on the other computers. I just got stumped as I had not seen this
before. I guess I will try the letter T to see if that is what it was trying
to use. Otherwise, I will see if I can return the product to Amazon for an
exchange. Now that I have opened the package, it may be impossible to
return. Thanks for all your ideas.

Did the other 5 copies that you installed successfully have separate licenses or was
it all the same license. Did you check the other licenses on how the digits and
letters are in sequence
