Is there a way people can register Office 2007 products without installing
them?

I have Office 2007 Pro and Groove 2007, but I don't plan on installing them
quite yet. I would like to have my activation keys on file with MS in case of
fire or theft/piracy.

I obtained these products at one of the Ready for a New Day launch events,
so I'm not sure if they are considered retail, volume license, or some other
form of product. The event was in the US, which is where I am, so I don't
need international information on this question.

Also, of less importance, can media be ordered from MS for these products
obtained as they were?

Thank you,

Vespasian

No. Activation is for a specific hardware configuration, whether done on line or via telephone, it's through an installed Office
product.

For the U.S. Office 2007 launch events they are retail product keys, applied to downloaded trial editions. While CDs may be
available, for a fee, the 'medialess' products are generally a 'make your own' backup CD from the download. The trial editions are
full retail products and can be extracted to a CD image onto a CD.

My thanks to you both.

MS won't let me give you both big fat green check marks, so...

One note I'll leave for people wandering these boards:

When I was making the install CD, I noticed there is an updates folder.
Apparently, people can add update files into that folder and burn them onto
the CD along with the main product installation.

When you use the finished install CD, the updates you add will install along
with the main installation. I'll have to make a new CD loaded with updates
once we get to the point where the newest updates are dependent upon previous
updates.

Microsoft don't keep track of who owns which specific product key.
