Hi there,
Thanks to Tina, I got my product inventory tables setup.
It didn't took me long before I have another question again.
I have the following table modelling a product for our shops. For some
of the products, we do repeat order. For this, it's good to know their
packaging size (carton size, bale size or a standard size) so we can
calculate roughly how many cbm they occupy.
table Product:
ProductId: PK, autonumber
ProductName
// Some other columns
Now, my question is whether to include the packaging size in the Product
table or have it in a separate table, like the following:
table ProductPackaging:
ProductId: PK (so this will be a one-to-one relationship)
DimL
DimW
DimH
Quantity
UomCode: FK to Uom (pc, doz, bdl, ctn,...)
The cbm of the carton will simply be DimL*DimW*DimH (in Excel, I simply
used to type =0.53*0.26*0.45, anyway, this is a database)
Note that most of the products will not be needing a packaging size.
Thanks
