Program Accessing Outlook Addresses

T

TAEK1096

I have been getting this error ever since I download the
latest patch for XP Office Pro - "A program is trying to
access email address you have stored in Outlook...do you
want to allow this?" If I click no it keeps popping up.
I don't want to allow it if it is a program that should
not be accessing my address book. I have the latest
Norton Antivirus and Internet Security and download
updates daily and I have a spyware detector that deletes
any spyware. Both have been run numerous times and have
detected nothing. Is there anyway to determine exactly
what program is trying to access the book? If I knew
which program, I may be able to disable it or reconfigure
the settings.

Thank you....

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which program is trying to access the
addresses, but it's typically antivirus software or a 3rd party spam filter.
It's a known issue with SP3; security has been updated to more closely match
the security in Outlook 2003. You may be able to get around the problem by
either disabling Word as your e-mail editor or updating some of your
add-ins, especially virus scanners and spam filters (many major
manufacturers have already released compatible updates). See the following

I did the disabling of word, updated my Oulook IHateSpam
and it stopped doing it. All of a sudden it started
again, I realized that it only happens when hotmail
synchronizes while recieving mail.
I guess if I remove hotmail from outlook it will stop all
together. What a drag!
