I often see my machine trying to connect to some ldap thing at
yahoo.com. What the heck is that? And how do I make it stop?

That's a directory service...Entourage is trying to look up people to whom
you're addressing messages.

If you never plan to use this option, you can delete the service by going to
Tools > Accounts > Directory Service and delete the unused entries there. Or
you can stop Entourage from automatically doing lookups (but allowing you to
still do manual lookups) by going to Entourage > Preferences > Compose >
uncheck "Automatically check names when sending messages."

Thanks for the reply. That selection was not checked, but 'search
directory services when addressing messages' was and I've unchecked
that. Will see if that makes a difference. I appreciate the help.

It didn't. I guess I'll delete the entry.
