Project Experts: Need Your Help

Anne Troy

I'm sure you're aware that many people never find their way to the
newsgroups and when they do, may have difficulty with its interface. It is
one of the reasons why it took me so long to begin answering questions in
the newsgroups.

I've opened a Project forum at www.officearticles.com/forums/ (we also allow
file uploads) and would very much appreciate if I could get some help there.
Someone I know plans on beginning to ask some questions tomorrow. I do not
even have Project installed, so can't even give it a shot. It's one of the
few areas in which I sorely lack. :( Please help! Thanks VERY much!

Well to be honest the best way to get their questions answered would be
for them to post them here. :)

I second Brian's comment - there is a massive amount of user knowledge behind
this newsgroup and it is, I would suggest, the most efficient way of dealing
with queries.
It also means that other users will benefit from the posts.

Anne,
I guess I don't understand (or necessarily agree with) your statement
that many people never find this newsgroup and/or have a difficult time
with the interface. We tend to be a pretty busy bunch of guys (and gals)
who answer posts so somebody is definitely finding "it".

Several years ago I first connected with this newsgroup through the
venerable Google. No problem with the interface (either on PC or Mac)
but it was very frustrating that my posts took several hours to
'register". I even posted a query to that effect and received the
suggestion that I would have better luck using a newsreader. There are
many good newsreaders available. I happen to use MT-NewsWatcher (on my
Mac) but as I recall from some discussion on this subject in the past,
MS Outlook or Explorer has newsreader capability also. If someone
doesn't correct my last statement, try doing a search (via Google if
necessary) and verify how to set up newsreader capability for PC.

There certainly is no problem setting up a separate forum, but I do
think that if too many forums exist for a given subject matter, the body
of knowledge gets fragmented, just like a hard drive. However, the part
that puzzles me the most is if you don't even have Project, why are you
concerned about a Project newsgroup?

Hi Ann,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You could start by making reference to my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, at this site: http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMFrame.asp?CMD=ArticleSearch&AUTH=23

Also to the Project MVPs website where FAQs, companion products and other
useful Project information can be seen, at this web address:

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Anne,
I fully agree with the others. If you cannot find an answer in this forum,
you would be hard pressed to find it elsewhere. By having your own site, you
reall do limit the amount of support and experience you can get. The people
in this forum know their stuff except for me of course. I was looking for a
Wedding Planning forum and somehow ended up here. Just kidding, when I am
stuck, this is where I come for support.
