Project Recovery

Please help. I've just lost a whole Project! I'm new to Entourage and
may have deleted it but it's not in the desktop trash. I've tried
Finder and Searchlight and there's nothing. Where can it be? Is it lost
forever. I'm crushed.

Hi,

there is no easy way to recover data from Entourage once it has been
deleted. Entourage stores its data in a database, so files such as e-mail
messages do not pass through the Finder's trash at all; instead, they are
removed from the database itself. Unfortunately, Entourage does not have an
internal trash can, so you cannot undo any mistakes you might have made
while deleting data. Your post has got me slightly confused, though, since
deleting a project does not delete the Entourage items associated with that
project. In other words, please check if your e-mail messages and other
items have truly been deleted, or if they can still be found in the
respective sections of Entourage.

As far as I know, there is currently one automated way of deleting (at once)
all the items associated with a project, and that's through File>Export,
where you can choose to have Entourage delete all the project data after
creating an archive of that project. However, in that case, you should have
an archive serving as a backup. As I've said, you should see first if your
data is not still in Entourage.

To answer to your second post as well: always perform backups at regular
intervals. See this page for more information:

If there are any further questions, post back!

Thank you so much, Michel! I will indeed backup from now on. Bad way to
learn that lesson. For some reason, the emails are gone but, following
your advice, I checked all the other components and yes, the
tasks/deadlines were still there! ThankYouThankYouThankYou. Karen

I forgot to ask you, Michel, if there's a way to have my task due dates
show on my regular calendar in addition to the Project calendar. Karen

Hi Karen,

glad I could help! To answer your question: no, it is not possible to have
to do items show up in your regular calendar. However, in the calendar view,
you can select Calendar>Task Pane to have them show up in a separate pane
next to your traditional calendar view. It's not exactly what you're looking
for, but it's as close as you can get.
