Project server 2007 work with project pro 2003?

I doubt it, but do so only at your own risk. The reason I doubt it is
because in Project Server 2007, the scheduling engine resides in the Project
Server system rather than in the Microsoft Project desktop application. In
Project Professional 2003, the scheduling engine resides in the desktop
application. Thus, I would surmise that the two software applications are
incompatible, but I'm willing to be wrong! :)

Another reason for non-compatibility might be that Project Professional 2007
caches the Global enterprise and all projects. Project Server 2007 therefore
expects Project Professional to handle caching. Projects in 2007 have a new
format as well that 2003 won't support.

Based on my understanding of Project Pro & Server 2007, there is indeed
a new scheduling engine on the server for previewing and posting task
updates, but there is STILL the scheduling engine in Project Pro that
we all know and love ;)

Regarding Project Server 2007 / Project Pro 2003 compatibility, I have
not tried it, but I would assume that they are incompatible, since the
communication between client and server has been completely
re-engineered. Project Pro 2003 communicates directly with the Project
Server database, and Project Pro 2007 communicates via the new PSI
(Project Server Interface)... the new API that all clients (Project
Pro, PWA, or other 3rd party applications) use to communicate with the
server.

Good luck!

I've tried to set up a connection and it fails when you try to test the
connection. The message is "The following file(s) have been blocked by the
administrator: /projectserver/isapi/pjdbcomm.dll"

I haven't pursued it.
