Projector Advice

This may not be the proper venu for this question, but I didn't know where
else to post it. I am looking for some advice concerning a projector. I
will be giving power point presentations to groups of perhaps 20 individuals
in small conferenece rooms. I will be using a ThinkPad R40 laptop. The
presentations will be simple charts with bullets, a few graphs and charts and
spreadsheets. No animation, no sound, a little color. I will be flying to
all meetings, so size, weight and durability are very important. Can anyone
give suggestions and advice as to what I should be looking for? Thanks for
you help.

JayE,

Check out this website for all your projector questions
http://www.projectorcentral.com/
There are some news articles you might want to look at linked on the home
page at Projector Central
such as "technology war: LCD vs. DLP".

The type you want is portables, so that section is where you want to start
looking. You can do all your searches based on several categories, price,
lumens, DLP, LCD, contrast ratio etc. etc.

When you are ready to upgrade your presentations to something more engaging
and memorable than just plain old charts and graphs, check out our web site

In addition to size and weight, check on the bulb life and replacement cost.
Because you will be using various conference rooms, make sure the projector
has keystone correction (adjusts for distortion from projector angle to
screen). Another good feature is a dual intensity bulb, basically it can be
brighter or dimmer as needed for the room lighting - running dimmer means
longer bulb life and quieter fan operation. Another consideration is if you
need speakers built in to the projector (preferably not).

Just a few random thoughts to consider.

Have a look a the BenQ, it's DLP, bright, light, compact and comes with
a soft case. You can carry your laptop and projector as hand luggage and
I bet the laptop will be heavier.

Thanks everyone for your help. Paul, the link you posted had a review of one
of the models I am looking at ( InFocus LP 70+) and compared it to 2 other
smaller units. Very helpful. Thanks.
