I am trying to help a non profit with 1 of their networked computers
(about 15 in total) which will not let them run any of the Office apps
(word, excel etc.). When you launch, say word, it looks to install
components, and then it calls for a file called proret.msi. Which we cant
find on the network or an office cd (not sure if it's the original install
cd as the network was setup years ago and noone there knows what's up- no
administrator/IT person) .
The installed software is a legitimate copy that used to work and things may
have gone wrong after a windows update - not sure. A google search
turned this up but it doesnt offer a fix or workaround.

If anyone knows how to extract the missing file, or has a
remedy....please.......love
to hear from you
