Protect my Formulas from idiots

Hello.....
I am trying to figure out a way to protect some
cells in a worksheet from be altered. I have some cells
that must be altered in the worksheet though. I have
tried unlocking the cells I would like to alter, and
protecting the worksheet....but that doesn't allow me
to format the cells I need to alter, only change the
values. Thanks in advance.
