Protect/ unprotect worksheet

I copied in a protected sheet using <ctl> <c> to an unprotected excel file.
Now the file is protected - no editing possible, no formulae visible.
I tried tools - protect/ unprotect, also format cells - locked/ unlocked.
What can I do?
