Protecting a Calculation Cell

I'm desperately trying to protect a formula call so that
users cannot blow out the formula. I have locked and
secured the worksheet, but now it's not calculating when
new figures are entered. Please can anyone offer me some
direction?

Mary,

Protection doesn't affect Excel's recalc. As long as the calculation
depends on a cell that is being changed, the formula should update properly.
Make sure that you didn't change the recalc mode to manual.
