Protecting Entourage

Right now, anyone can open Entourage and see everything that is in my
inbox. I am wondering if there is a way to install a password in order to
open up Entourage or any way to securely hide the inbox.

Thank you,
Debbie

No, Entourage is not designed to work that way.

Instead, you should use the OS X security features:
In System Preferences -- Security, select "Disable automatic login". This
will force you or anyone else to enter a password before logging into your
account and using the computer.
Also set "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen
saver". For further security, you can set "Log out after XX minutes of
inactivity", so that a user will have to log back in if you leave your
computer unattended for the specified period of time.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I understand and I have it in that way. But, when you set your inactivity timer to, say, 5 mins, and you leave you computer after 2 mins of work, you have 3 mins left unattended. If you make it like 1 min, then you'll be frequently in need to enter your password ... Actually, same thing you can do in Windows, plus you have additional password to enter Outlook. Entourage is a separate application and could have a security of its own. But the main sweetness of Outlook is that you can have you outlook file (.pst) placed separately from your laptop (desktop) and carry it on SD or any other card in your pocket.

But unless you quit Outlook, don't you have the same problem there if you
walk away. So instead of quitting Entourage, just put the Mac to sleep
manually.

It's true that Entourage COULD have its own security, but the developers
chose not to do so. Note that the developers did not intend for Entourage to
be a Mac equivalent of Outlook, even though that is what many customers
(especially cross-platform users and switchers) may have expected.

You can put your Microsoft User Data or your Office 200x Identities folder
on an SD card or other pocket storage device that is large enough.
